LA COUPOLE‘S 3D PLANETARIUM
The marvels of the universe can now be explored in an immersive experience!
It was from La Coupole that the dreadful V2 missiles, the forerunners of our modern-day rockets, were to be fired. At this former launching base, in our full-dome 360° Planetarium equipped with revolutionary 10K-3D technology, set off for a discovery tour of the Universe in the company of our facilitators. Float among the stars, aim for the Moon on board the Saturn V rocket, or set foot on Mars! An unforgettable experience for all the whole family!
First-of-its-kind ultra-modern Planetarium!
With its 15 m diameter hemispherical 360° screen, floor tilted to 15°, and 5.2 surround sound system, the Planetarium offers visitors a full-dome immersive experience of space and science. A voting pad on each seat makes interactive shows possible*. The films are projected in 3D by 12 laser projectors, coupled with a space simulator which generates 10K ultra-high-resolution 360° images (10K = 10 million pixels). This extraordinary technology, unparalleled anywhere else in the world, produces incredibly high-quality images, giving you the impression of a perfectly cloudless night sky.
* Voting only available during some shows.
Varied programme
The 3D Planetarium offers a year-round programme of educational shows for all ages on a variety of subjects, ranging from outer space to history.
With no less than 4 shows for the general public per day, each on a different subject, you are sure to find a session that matches your interests.
The programme is updated regularly, both in terms of the films projected, and in terms of the subjects raised during the show by our facilitators. These Planetarium pilots and space travel guides, all passionate about science and history, will share their enthusiasm with you during an informal question-and-answer session.
Each show lasts 50 minutes to 1 hour and begins with a voyage in space (lasting around 15 minutes), with commentary by our facilitators, followed by a themed film (around 35 minutes long).
Schedule
All year round, the 3D Planetarium schedules sessions for the public at 12.15, 14.00, 15.15 and 16.45, with an extra session at 11.00 on weekends and public holidays, and during the French school holidays (zone B). There is also a session at 18.00 during the months of July and August.
